I am honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as the 52nd president of the New England Society for Vascular Surgery. Ours was the first vascular meeting I ever attended; this society has been special to me ever since. Our society fosters camaraderie amongst our colleagues by offering a small group feel, and open, respectful dialogue. In addition, NESVS has a rich tradition of putting forth some of the most meaningful scientific and educational contributions in our field.
Some of my specific goals for this year include soliciting input on the needs of vascular specialists in our region and obtaining a deeper understanding of how members, and non-members, view the role of professional societies in their work. I would also like to leverage the incredible knowledge and historical perspective of our mid-career and senior members to support the ever-evolving priorities and interests of our junior members and candidate members. I would like the NESVS to provide meaningful support of recruitment initiatives to ensure we have a robust and diverse workforce of vascular surgeons and of NESVS members. Members of our society and our profession can accomplish deeply meaningful things for our patients and our colleagues!
I hope to see as many of you as possible at the meeting in Providence, RI in September 2025!
Sincerely,
Jessica P. Simons, MD, MPH
